Adding and Switching Google Chrome Profiles

This is a step-by-step tutorial on how to add and switch between Chrome profiles.

A video of these steps is available here:

How to add a new Chrome profile:

Click on the Chrome profile icon in the top-right corner of your Chrome browser.

This will bring up the Chrome profile menu.

Click on “+ Add” at the bottom of the Chrome profile menu.

This will bring up a new Chrome window.

Provide a name for the profile, select an icon, choose if you want a shortcut for your profile created on your desktop (optional), and then click “Add”.

A new Chrome browser window will appear.

Click the “Already a Chrome user? Sign in” option.
Sign in with your Hopedale email and password.
Select the “Link data” option when prompted.
Select the “Yes, I’m in” option when prompted.
This is optional, however, if you had sync enabled on your browser at the school then selecting yes will import everything from there (like bookmarks).
You will now be signed into your Hopedale Chrome profile and your Hopedale Google account.
If you are not signed into your Hopedale Google account, go to gmail and sign in with your Hopedale email and password.

How to switch between Chrome profiles:

Click on the Chrome profile icon in the top-right corner of your Chrome browser.
Select the profile you wish to use.

This will bring up a new Chrome browser window that is logged into the selected Chrome profile.

In this example, I am going from my “personal” profile to my “work” profile.
The Chrome browser window logged into your personal profile will still be open in the background.

How to remove a Chrome profile:

Click on the Chrome profile icon in the top-right corner of your Chrome browser.
Click the “Manage people” button.
A new window will appear.
Move your mouse over the profile you wish to remove and click the three vertical dots.
Select “Remove this person” and confirm.
