Physical Controls

Our Cleartouch boards provide you with
  • An embedded Android operating system that includes:
  • On-screen tools such as writing overlay, spotlight, magnifying
  • A whiteboard & painting app
  • A dedicated Chromebox on the back
  • (Optional) a dedicated DVD player on the back

Main Controls

  • On the front right-side is the power button to wake up the board. You can also push this once to turn off the screen (sleep mode)
  • To the right of that are (2) USB 3 ports that you can plug in your document camera, webcam, microphone slide remote or any other USB peripheral.
  • It will connect to both the board AND the Chromebox simultaneously for use with either.


  • On the back you may have a DVD player – accessible via the HDMI3 (or named DVD) input.
  • You will have a dedicated Chromebox – accessible via the HDMI1 (or named Chromebox) input.



Waking up the Chromebox

If the Chromebox shows ‘No Signal’ on the input, please go to the back of the board and ensure the Chromebox is on.



Screen Controls & Usage

    .1On the board’s homescreen below you have two fly-out toolbars on each side of the board that will appear when pressing one of the arrows (#1)
    .2On the Android (AOSP) input you’ll have a grid icon on the bottom right to launch a few built-in apps (#2)
The built-in apps that are mainly available are Pallete and Note.
    .1Note is a whiteboard app to write notes, add shapes, use tools like a ruler, draw, etc.
    .2Palette is for drawing and coloring and has various pen styles like brushes, markers, pencils, etc.


Fly-out Toolbar

On the toolbar below:
    .1Home – brings you to the build-in Android home
    .2Recent Items – will show recent built-in applications you used such as Palette or Note
    .3Canvas (this is no longer used, used ‘Note’ instead) – Whiteboard app for writing quick notes or drawing
    .4On-screen Pen – This will overlay anything on your screen. It does not attach to the document and isn’t permanent, mostly for making quick notes and commentary during teaching
    .5On-screen Magnifier – This can zoom in on your screen with different levels of magnification
    .6Tool – This contains various on-screen tools like a spotlight to highlight something, a countdown time, a stopwatch and more.
    .7Inputs – This is where you can switch between the Android, Chromebox, and DVD (if present) inputs on your board.

Lifting a Pen

When you lift a pen a toolbar will open in the corner where the pen was for quick-access.
    .1Palette is for drawing and coloring and has various pen styles like brushes, markers, pencils, etc.
    .2Note is a whiteboard app to write notes, add shapes, use tools like a ruler, draw, etc.
    .3Easimark is the same as the on-screen pen tool that you can quickly write over anything on your board



Moving the Board

You can move the board to wherever power exists in your room. Before moving please do the following:
  • Shutdown the Chromebox by going to the bottom right corner (where the time is) and then clicking shutdown
  • Shutdown the board fully (press and HOLD) the front power button for 5 seconds, a notice will come up on the screen that it is shutting down.
  • Turn off the manual power switch on the board after it is off. It is located on the underside, see below.




Once moved you can turn the switch back on, turn on the board and Chromebox and proceed to normal usage.
